SCOPE
(Standing Committee on Professional Exchange) is a committee for professional exchange, one of the oldest committees within IFMSA, which started to work along with its foundation in 1951, and within YuMSIC (IFMSA Serbia) it functions since 1953. Aims of the organization have remained the same since the organization of first exchanges until today, which testifies about its quality and necessity of its existence.
Generations of young students have enriched their résumés and their lives with the experience gained in one of 78 countries in which this exchange functions. Working everyday as doctors with help of mentors and on departments which they choose, students acquire valuable experience and become familiar with new work algorithms in modern medical practice .Each year, 6600 students from different countries spend a month in a country they do not know, with people they do not know, and return home enriched with experience about which they could speak for days.
Between 100 and 150 students of medicine from four towns in Serbia participate in this project each year. If you are interested in this exchange, please read “ step by step” on our web site (click on the little man in white coat -our exchange mascot)
SCORE
(Standing Committee on Research Exchange) promotes scientific and research work between students of medicine and allows students who are interested in research to gain their first experience or to advance the experience they already have by working in the medical laboratories around the world.
Participation in this scientific exchange means that students go to one country (with which our country made an agreement) and participate actively in the project realization during at least six months. Each national organization has a list of projects feasible in that country, a short description of the project, mentor’s name, name of the institution in which the project is performed, etc.
Beside the possibilities to participate in the latest researches and to become familiar with modern approaches in scientific work, this exchange allows you to meet and spend time with people from other countries who are also students on exchange, to become familiar with customs and culture of the host country and try its national cousine.Official language of the exchange is English.

SCOME
(Standing Committee on Medical Education) is aimed at advancing high medical education in our country. Goal of this committee is to create best educational environment for each student of medicine in any part of the world. SCOME operates on the local level, through international projects and communication between its members from different countries. In order to achieve best possible education, SCOME has already organized libraries with modern professional foreign literature, available to all students from our faculties, and we have started with making a serious concept of further activities through a project A Steep toward the Bologna Declaration. Another project that improves not only education but also the concept of professional medical staff is the project Ethics in Medicine. It is about projects in progress in many countries, including Serbia.
Welcome to SCOME!
SCORA
(Standing Committee on Reproductive Health including AIDS) exists within IFMSA since 1991. , within YuMSIC it operates since 1992. and it is one of its most attractive committees. If you become a member of our team, you can take part in the following activities:
December 1st is the World AIDS Day and although SCORA deals with this issue not only on that day, in this period, as a part of the campaign WAD, SCORA organizes numerous activities to rise peoples’ awareness, reduce stigma and discrimination and support people with AIDS.
Famous Humanitarian parties are organized each year in some of the best known clubs in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Nis.Over 1000 young people attend these parties each year.
Instead of a ticket, people bring hygiene material (things for personal hygiene and domestic hygiene) for the 6th department of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases (department for people with AIDS) in Belgrade. Sometimes short films about AIDS are presented in those parties in order to inform young people, and the most important and inseparable part of a party is distribution of educational material, red strips and condoms.
Peer Educators Training. Each year, Committee on Reproductive Health and AIDS organizes trainings for peer educators from Serbia. On trainings that last ten, or seven days and that are organized according to Y-PEER standards, students from elementary and high schools from local communities in our country come together. This program consists of the educational part, which refers to all issues from the reproductive health area ( anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, biology of the sexual intercourse, conception, pregnancy, unwanted pregnancy, labor, contraception, PPI, AIDS and other diseases ) and psychological workshops, aimed at adoption and reconsideration of person’s own attitudes and values.
Beside this, participants acquire basic skills for life and workshops through numerous games and different methods and techniques in peer education. Subjects of these programs are issues like communication, solving problems, making decisions and attracting attention.
At the end of the course, future educators have a chance to practice all things they have learnt and share their knowledge and skills with their friends during a section of activities in which they design and perform workshops with help of the trainer. During the training process, participants receive a lot of educational material that will help them in their future work as peer educators.
When the training is completed, all participants become members of national network of Y-PEER Serbia, which gives them various possibilities for further knowledge and skills.
SCORA Exchange is the youngest project of IFMSA SCORA Committee. IFMSA-Serbia (YuMSIC) started the project in 2006 and organized the exchange on the local level in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Nis.The first SCORA exchange between IFMSA-Serbia (YuMSIC) and IFMSA-Greece (HelMSIC) was in 2008. As a host city, Belgrade has shown that still there are many possibilities for SCORA development, and started a new chapter in the history of SCORA sub-committee. The main goal of SCORA Exchange is to give medicine students opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills, that are necessary to make sensitive issues, such as AIDS,STI and other, available and common, so that the future work with these patients would become a routine practice.
SCORP
( Standing committee on human Rights and Peace) in IFMSA-Serbia is on of the most popular committees. The most popular activity is project Sweet Party.
Sweet Party is today already well known, traditional, IFMSA Serbia action when our activists organize party on which one can enter with some sweet instead of ticket. Beside of collecting sweets for refugee children we are diverting public concern on real problems of those living as refugees in our country.
If you want to learn more about this or if you want to take part in some activity that we organize, please do not hesitate and feel free to write to us.
